Kevin Cardwell is the founder, President, and owner of CARDWELL
ENERGY ASSOCIATES, INC. with over 35 years experience in the utility and energy consulting industries.
He has served as an industry expert in numerous civil and administrative litigation cases relating to coal and transportation
disputes, industry practices, and the like.
Mr. Cardwell previously served as Director of the Fossil Fuels Department at Carolina Power
& Light Company and Manager of Coal Supply for Louisville Gas & Electric Company. In both positions, he was
responsible for all functions relating to the organization, management, administration, and supervision of the fuel and
transportation procurement processes and departments for each utility. Mr. Cardwell previously founded and owned
Strategic Energy Services, Inc. (SES), a fuel and transportation consulting firm in Louisville, KY. He most recently
worked for Hill & Associates, Inc., where he was a Vice President until the firm was purchased by Wood Mackenzie
Inc., at which time he became a Senior Managing Consultant.
Mr. Cardwell has been a speaker at the
Coal Marketing Days seminar, the Lexington Coal Exchange, and the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation Annual Conference.
He was formerly on the Board of Directors of the Lexington Coal Exchange and a Trustee of the Southern Coals Conference.
He has also co-authored an article on fuel trading for the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) Energy in the News
publication, and served as a co-leader of the Technical Coal Buying and Selling Seminar in Lexington, KY. Mr. Cardwell
has served or currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor in Business, Economics, Finance, Management, and Mathematics at various
community colleges and universities in Indiana, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
